New website launch – best viewed in Firefox
The launch of the new BEV website is finally here. The website is now fully CMSified (running WordPress 2.8.2) which means relatively little editing of files directly as news, events and results are posted through a web based administration panel. What this means is that eventually everyone who needs to update the site will be given a username and password and will be able to directly submit news to the website without going through the middleman (me, the webmaster).
This isn’t the only advantage of running a content management system rather than static HTML pages. You can now follow the latest news, events and results through your favourite RSS reader (really simple syndication), such as Google Reader. You can also comment on any posts, which means you can congratulate, ask questions and comment generally and everyone who visits that page will be able to see your comment and respond after it has been moderated. Instead of email, a contact form is now in place. Eventually the contact form will allow you to post directly to the person you wish to contact.
Some pages are currently a little bare and some are non-existent. More pictures will be added eventually and the header image will rotate randomly through as series of pictures once they have been chosen and edited. The old BEV website has been copied to HERE, so if for any reason you wish to visit the previous website you can. I moved the website to a different server a few hours ago, some may notice propagation issues for a short period of time.
If you have any questions or issues, please leave a comment below. Thank you.
