BEV
is the first discipline to
have UKCC accredited coaches. The Scottish Qualification Authority
have sent the certificates to The Scottish Equestrian Association
for the first pilot course run in March/April 07. Once SEA has
proof of the Child Protection Courses and First Aid, the full
Equestrian Certificates will be awarded.
Several
UKCC courses are now completed but certificates cannot be handed
out until evidence is produced of First Aid and Child Protection
courses. These must be sent to :
Fiona
Rawson, SEA Office, Titwood Farm, Kilmaurs, Ayrshire KA3 2PN
CONGRATULATIONS - names will be put forward once certificates awarded.
SEA has succeeded in gaining a massive funding grant to help candidates through these qualifications. They must also be congratulated.
The
courses can only be run by those on the Coach
Educator list and Assessed by Accredited Assessors.

UKCC Level 2 Courses
Candidates should be aware that the UKCC courses are geared to the techniques of coaching. It is important that you already have a good grasp of the technical content of the course which is placed at Novice Level of competion. You should already have been workling with a Group at this level and be confident in your lunge techniques. |
Level 1 courses
Two more Level 1 courses have been run at Easterton this summer. What is coming out of these courses is the lack of time to deal with technical knowledge. People want the technical knowledge on the training programme but these are designed specifically to assist with coaching skills.
The next course will be preceeded by a technical day to assist those who feel their knowledge is lacking. Ex vaulters would not be required to
attend this day.

EEAC runs first Pilot UKCC level 1 course in Scotland
Easterton Equine Activities Club hosted the first pilot UKCC training day for Level 1 coaches in Scotland. This was also the first discipline to attempt the new candidate pack. It struck terror into the hearts of the candidates but they were soon reassured. It is not disimilar to what we have been using for the last 2 years, just looks more!
Lots of interactive sessions produced good feedback by the end of the day, with a good mix of practical and classroom based exercises.
I believe we are well placed to offer these courses as the principles are not so new to us as many other disciplines.
The information on the coaching page should help a little to clarify what is happening on the UKCC front.
