The website contains abstracts of research carried out by undergraduates, postgraduates and post doctoral researchers into equine topics, plus sufficient information to contact the relevant establishment for more information. This may be useful to students of all levels researching their own equine topics or equally to people within the equine industry who require various types of information. For more information on the history of the site and consultation process that has been taking place visit the BEF Website.

  •  British Grooms Association set to launch

Lucy Katan has been awarded £5,000 by UnLtd, a charity supporting social entrepreneurs, to turn her dream of an independent grooms association into a reality. Lucy has acted as the British Equestrian Federation grooms representative on a voluntary basis for four years, and now she has the opportunity to take this a stage further on an independent basis. The association intends to unite the grooms of Great Britain, giving them the opportunity to speak more loudly with one voice and provide them, and their employers, with a source of advice and guidance. Lucy also hopes the association will facilitate local and community networking between often isolated members of the grooming profession and will champion career development for all grooms. This association will sit alongside the work the British Horse Society is currently doing to produce a Grooms register. The ultimate aim of this association and the register is to raise the standard, professionalism and overall retention of staff in the industry. For more information visit the new website for the association.

  • UK Coaching Certificate

The UK Coaching Certificate is the benchmark for all coaches. Designed in response to the 2002 Coaching Task Force report, it aims to standardise and improve modern coaching in the UK. With London 2012 on the horizon, there’s never been a better time to get ahead of the game. By January 2007 the BEF will be delivering UKCC endorsed qualifications through its member bodies, this will ensure that we are delivering safe, high quality, rider centred coaching. Ultimately this will lead to success by helping to raise performance standards and increase enjoyment of riding. Please see our website for more information.

  • 100% Me – whereabouts system training

UK Sport's athlete-centred programme, 100% me, aims to increase understanding of drug-free sport amongst the whole sporting community through providing high quality, relevant information on anti-doping, and promoting the positive attitudes and values of sportsmen and women in the UK who have competed successfully in sport drug-free. The BEF have organised on-line interactive regional workshops for all the riders who are required to use the UK Sport On-line whereabouts system from 1 January 2007 to notify UK Sport of their whereabouts for out of competition testing purposes. See the 100% Me website for more details of the programme.
