BASIC SEAT 2

Build up exercise

Clapping in rhythm with horse.

Method

  • Vaulter sits with long legs as in previous example.
  • Ask the vaulter to clap in time with the rhythm of the horse.
  • Do this for four strides or until the vaulter feels the correct movement.
  • Hands are then placed onto the grips simultaneously

Tips

  • A vaulter may loose their balance when they first let go of the grips. Ask them to do this slowly and to lean back if they begin to bounce.
  • Some may try gripping with their knees to maintain balance, ask them to relax their legs down and absorb movement through hips.
  • If a vaulter cannot feel the rhythm of the horse, count out loud with them to help them understand this.
