Mount 4

More examples of incorrect mounts

1.       The vaulter mounts in the correct way but does not jump his hips above their head; this causes them to need to wriggle in to the correct position at the last minute. The vaulter needs to jump their hips higher during the mount. Practicing the mounting exercise aiming to get the hips really high will help.

2.       The vaulter mounts with a hollow back. Head, shoulders, hips and leg good. The vaulter needs to use their stomach muscles during the mount to stop the back arching.

Fairly good mount

Vaulter mounts with good technique apart from they let their lower leg fly backwards near to the horses’ loins. The vaulter needs to actively try and pull their lower leg forward during the mount. They may need to work on flexibility to allow them to mount through long splits.
