Strong Vaulting squad head to Aachen CVIO this weekend.

The squad includes the 1st and 2nd placed teams from the two British selection trials and individual vaulters are sisters Joanne and Hannah Eccles who competed last year at this event and are joined by Lucy Phillips with her promising Austrian horse 'Pitucelli'.

The two males are both recently making a comeback following a year off : Ross foreman and Phillip Beasley.

Joanne Eccles leads the British hopes and goes in as one of the favourites for the individual title having been unbeaten internationally so far this year.

German international Wiesbaden (invitation only) CVI** event- Joey Eccles takes the top spot once again.

News from Holland CVI**

The following report was sent to the BEF after the success of team GB in Ermelo, Holland in April.

Vaulting news

Great results for team GB at the CVI** in Holland.

The British National anthem was played more often than any other nation’s at the CVI** held at the new Dutch Equestrian Federation Centre at Ermelo.

Joanne Eccles was an outstanding senior Individual winner, placed above the WEG silver medallist from Austria. Her younger sister Hannah came through to take the Junior Individual gold medal, both on W.H.Bentley lunged by John Eccles and Lucy Phillips the silver on Nikita lunged by Rebecca Morgan.

The young team from Eagles Vaulting Group gained first place in the Junior team class on a new vaulting horse, Fortuitous, lunged by a first time International lunger, Kathryn Jeffress (Hunt). The Junior team was sponsored by Ross Offshore.

There were some excellent results for the rest of the Group, Ricky Davies placed 4th in the Male Individual and Louise Sinclair 4th in the Junior Individual, both on ILPH Islay lunged by Liz Mackay.

The horse scores were published separately for each class and the six British horses were all right up at the top of each class. John Eccles’ W.H.Bentley was chosen as the best Individual horse. We thank the BEF for the help and advice given to provide the best conditions for travelling the horses abroad. They all looked in great form and were a credit to GB.

Scottish Championships October 07

July 5th -9th - Camp at Clwyd combined with a coach training weekend was a great success. The Clwyd parents are a fantastic example of supportive volunteers and kept the children, coaches and Tutors well supplied with great food and home made cakes throughout the camp. Detrimental to the waistline!!

Kathryn Jefress, visiting coach, was a great hit with parents and vaulters alike. All levels of vaulters came away inspired and keen to progress. Kathryn and Diane made a formidable organising combination as was seen by the amount of midnight oil burned by the two of them!

Webmaster ran the two day training course with the stalwart help of Andrew Williamson.

MORE FOOLS WITH HORSES

Ian Stark wins the 'Hunt Challenge' Trophy at the Gala event at the British Championships.

Webmaster donated this trophy in honour of TOAD. The first glimmer of an idea for this event was born when Ian Stark vaulted on him in front of a huge crowd at Gleneagles. It is only fitting that the first time this event has taken place to find the champion All round Scottish horse person, that it should be won by Ian !
