Vaulting
Competitions Job specification for writers The main job of the writer is to look after their judge and follow instructions carefully. They usually like to make sure that their writer knows what a score sheet looks like and knows where to put the scores. They will probably ask if you have experience of writing. If not they will be very helpful and show you what is required. Normally you would stay with the same judge for the day. Writer for Judge A may have to double as timekeeper.
It is helpful to keep a watchful eye that the name on sheet you are about to write on is the same as the one called out by the announcer. Most British judges will know people but foreign judges will not. · Study the score sheet and make sure you understand where to write the score that the judge gives you. · Ask the judge how they want you to add the comments like t, w, f, etc. These are initials that have a meaning. t = time fault. · Team vaulting goes very fast so concentration is required. · Make sure any runners stand quietly while waiting for the sheets and do not disturb the Judge. · The new Technical test will be quite a challenge to judge and writer. It will require an experienced writer. · Finally make sure the judge signs each sheet before passing it to the runners. |
