Job specification for scorers

 

Scoring has evolved from a fully manual system to nearly 100% electronic. The score sheets are now produced on Excel spread sheets and are linked to each other and to a master sheet for results. This greatly improves the speed of producing results. Less mistakes in addition but possibly some mistakes on input.

 

Skills:  Computer literate, knowledge of Excel helpful, good with figures, methodical,

ability to keep cool under pressure.

Equipment: Laptop, printer, floppy discs, ream of spare paper, pens

Rules: Scorers area is out of bounds to all but officials, scorers and helpers.

 

  • Arrive in plenty time to familiarize yourself with equipment
  • Extra laptops always helpful. Extra floppy discs useful.
  • Assist with any alterations following declarations.
  • Receive scores from runners.
  • Try to make sure runners keep abreast of things and get the scores to you.
  • Keep score sheets in classes.
  • Check number of vaulters in Pre-novice class
  • Adjust master score sheets to reflect that number.
  • All other teams should now be only 6 vaulters.
  • Input scores as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • It is advisable to try to keep up with the classes.
  • Better to have two people in-putting – one reading, one typing. That helps avoid mistakes.
  • Create and print off result sheets to be posted as soon as possible.
  • Results should go up for compulsory scores ASAP after the class
  • A second sheet should be posted aftert the KUR with the final scores as soon as possible
  • Arrange score sheets in each class in order for prize-giving.
  • Print extra result sheets for prize-giving
  • Report anyone asking you to alter their score sheets, to the Organizers.
